High Adventure Team (HAT)

Advanced training for leading high adventure outings. This course provides the foundation for all other HAT courses. It is open to all registered Scouting adults who have completed the Position Specific Training for Scoutmaster or Assistant Scoutmaster (including the Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills). National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT)

Brownsea NYLT is a seven day outdoor experience for boy leaders in support of the Scoutmaster’s responsibility for the training of youth leaders. It is conducted by Mt. Diablo Silverado Council using an outline approved by the Boy Scout Division of the Boy Scouts of America.

Youth Protection and other training opportunities

A number of training opportunities can be found online at our Council website, http://www.bsa-mdsc.org/adtoverview.php or the national site, My Scouting. All adults who work with our boys are required to have current Youth Protection training. You can complete this online by going to: http://www.bsa-mdsc.org/training/youth.php. Other trainings available online are Fast Start for Cub, Boy Scout and Venture Leaders, Safe Swim Defense/Safety Afloat, Troop Committee Challenge, and New Leader Essentials.
